Orne Lodge Nursery, Stanmore

Resin Bound Driveways & Pathways

BEAUTIFUL DRIVEWAY, COLOURFUL RUBBER

Orme Lodge Nursery in Stanmore required a dual-purpose surfacing solution—an upgraded driveway for staff and parents, alongside a safe and vibrant play area for the children. We worked closely with them to deliver a durable and visually appealing transformation.

For the driveway, we first installed approximately 500m² of permeable tarmac as a stable and well-draining sub-base. This was then finished with 600m² of resin-bound surfacing in an elegant pecan shade, perfectly complementing the nursery’s smart fencing and entrance gates. The result is a smooth, hard-wearing surface designed for daily use.

To enhance the outdoor play area, we installed 200m² of bright green rubber crumb, providing a cushioned, impact-absorbing surface for children to enjoy safely. The combination of materials ensures both practicality and visual appeal, making the nursery’s outdoor space more functional and inviting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I clean a resin bound surface?

A simple sweep with a stiff broom will remove debris. For deeper cleaning, use a pressure washer with a fan-type lance, keeping at least 200mm from the surface to avoid damage. Avoid turbo nozzles or high-pressure jets in one spot.

Resin bound surfaces are resistant to weed growth, but wind-blown seeds may settle on the surface. Regular brushing and occasional power washing will help prevent this. If needed, apply a mild weed killer that’s safe for resin.

For oil spills, clean the area as soon as possible using a biodegradable oil remover, followed by a rinse with warm water. Avoid harsh solvents or bleach, as they may discolour or damage the surface.

Yes – rock salt or standard de-icing products are safe to use on resin bound surfaces during cold weather. These won't damage the resin and will help maintain grip in icy conditions.

We recommend light maintenance every few months, including brushing, washing, and checking for any debris or algae in shaded areas. This will keep the surface looking clean and performing as intended for years to come.
