Rubber mulch is built to last. Unlike loose bark that breaks down or shifts over time, bonded rubber mulch stays firmly in place and won’t rot, even in wet or shaded areas. With proper installation and light upkeep, you can expect it to last around 8–10 years, sometimes longer depending on how heavily the area is used.

Not usually. One of the biggest advantages of rubber mulch is that it can often be installed straight over existing surfaces—whether that’s compacted earth, worn bark, grass mats, or artificial turf. That means less disruption, no digging out, and a much faster turnaround.
